Cosmetic Treatments For Men

In these recessionary times, there is increasing competition in the job market. Many men feel under pressure to look young and refreshed in addition to looking well groomed in the current climate. Men seeking out cosmetic treatments is one of the fastest growing area in aesthetic medicine. Men such as Simon Cowell and David Beckam are well known devotees of cosmetic treatments and have paved the way for other men. Cosmetic treatments are no longer limited to women, as men having botox or dermal filler treatments is no longer taboo. Simon Cowell has openly admitted to having Botox treatments saying that “To me botox is no more unusual than toothpaste”.

Men are now taking greater care of themselves, attending the gym, watching what they eat and the next natural progression is taking a greater interest in their appearance. Men are more astute and open to the different cosmetic treatments available to them. The most common non-surgical treatments which interest men in my experience are botox, dermal fillers, laser vein treatments and laser hair removal.

Cosmetic Treatments For Men

Botox Treatments for Men

The trend for botox treatment in men is for a softening of their expression lines rather than obvious treatment. The use of anti-wrinkle injections has evolved, in that treatments are much more subtle and aim is now to restore a more youthful relaxed look. The most common area requested by men in my clinic is treatment of the crow’s feet. Another popular treatment among men is the use of botox injections for the treatment of excessive sweating.

Dermal Fillers for Men

Men like Brad Pitt and George Clooney are perceived as the epitome of male masculinity. This is largely due to their strong masculine jawline. There is an increasing number of men attending cosmetic clinics to improve their jawline definition using dermal fillers. Dermal fillers such as Radiesse can augment the jawline with minimum down time. As with all treatments it is best to proceed cautiously rather than over correcting or over filling the face.

Laser Vein Treatments for Men

Irish men as with their Celtic counterparts are more susceptible to broken veins and facial redness due to Rosacea. Facial veins can be a cause of psychological distress and embarrassment as it can be incorrectly associated with excessive alcohol consumption. Laser devices deliver a pulse of light to facial veins and they typically disappear within a few treatments. A patch test is required prior to your laser treatment to ensure your suitability.

Laser Hair Removal for Men

Excessive body hair can affect a man’s self esteem in the same way that it can affect their female counterparts. An increasing number of men are seeking out laser hair removal treatments. It is important to point out that better results are achieved using laser rather than IPL devices. It is vital to do your research and make sure that the device that you choose for laser hair removal is proven to work.

We cannot guarantee that you will look like George Clooney or Brad Pitt after these treatments, but a more youthful, refreshed version of the old you!
