Dermal filler treatments in skilled hands will rejuvenate your appearance and make you look more youthful, relaxed and rested. Retaining your individuality is key to a successful treatment. To obtain beautiful results, your doctor should possess a keen eye and artistic flair. Dermal fillers when administered by a skilled injector can enhance your best features, refine lines and wrinkles but should be age appropriate. This means that dermal filler treatments when correctly performed should not make you look 20 when you are in your 50’s but make you look fresh whilst maintaining your character. As with all things in life moderation is the key!

Dermal fillers are gel-like substances which can soften lines, wrinkles and deeper folds. The most popular products are hyaluronic acid (i.e. Juvederm and Restylane) or calcium hydroxyapatite (i.e. Radiesse). Fillers can also be used to restore volume particularly in the mid-face area and cheeks, restoring a youthful contour to flat cheeks.

Filler injections can also be used to contour or enhance facial features, add volume to thin lips and flattened cheeks, reshape the nose, soften nasolabial folds, fill eye hollows, treat acne scarring and rejuvenate the hands.

Dermal filler treatments are relatively painless, fabulously successful and have little or no downtime. After dermal filler treatments you do not have to hide away and you can usually resume your normal activities the next day.

Types of Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers can be divided into the following types:

1) Hyaluronic acid fillers (e.g. Restylane or Juvederm)

Hyaluronic acid can be used to treat and erase lines, wrinkles and folds. Hyaluronic acid is naturally present in the skin to preserve moisture levels. In addition hyaluronic acid binds water, which helps maintain plumpness and hydration in the area of injection. If you suffer from crepy thin fragile skin then read on.

Hyaluronic acid injections are now available as skin boosters (e.g. Restylane Vital and Restylane Vital Light). These powerful moisturising agents rejuvenate tired, dehydrated, aged and crepy skin.

Hyaluronic acid is completely broken down within the skin over a period of six months, eventually leaving no trace of the filler. Dermal fillers containing hyaluronic acid do not contain any animal components and are extremely safe. Skin testing is not required before your treatment. Dermal filers can be used in the face, lips and hands. Results are visible immediately. Fillers aren’t painful because most products incorporate lidocaine (anaesthetic) in with the filler in order to minimise discomfort.

2) Calcium hydroxyapatite (e.g Radiesse)

Radiesse is a semi-permanent filler which can correct wrinkles and plump up areas of thinning skin. Radiesse can also correct years of smoking, smiling and worrying. It is particularly effective in hands rejuvenation. It is now possible to stop the hand ageing processes in its tracks.
If you want to find the old you and recreate your youth then Radiesse non surgical, non permanent injections are the ideal solution. Effects last between nine to twelve months. Downtime is minimal with swelling, redness occurring occasionally within the first 24- 48 hours. Rarely bruising and tenderness may occur.

If you are worried about lines and wrinkles, dermal fillers are a unique solution, in that these products can restore volume, reverse lines and wrinkles with immediate results.
