Belotero Balance; the new Hyaluronic Acid is perfect for luscious lips
Lip augmentation is one of the procedures available at Cosmetic Doctor in Dublin, and the clinic are already getting a huge number of bookings from women who want to have a pretty party pout for the Christmas season.
Dermal fillers have been used to augment and shape lips, but a new filler called Belotero Balance was approved by the FDA in 2012 and Dr. Fay has found it particularly good for lip procedures.
It’s a hyaluronic acid filler in a gel form and is ideal for the soft contours of the mouth, as the low viscosity gel sits naturally in the lips for a beautiful yet subtle result. It’s elastic and cohesive properties allow Belotero Balance gel to be injected very evenly and spread across the targeted area very nicely.
It’s a ‘new generation’ hyaluronic acid, and advancements in skin technology have allowed Belotero to molecularly tweaked in a way that it can be used in superficial fine lines and wrinkles, as well as the lips, without ever having to worry about lumps or bumps.
Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers like Belotero Balance help replenish volume in the soft tissues of the face, effectively eliminating superficial wrinkles, fine lines and folds.
It can be used in the fine lines around the lips, and can also be used as a way to pump up the lips themselves instead of other HA fillers like Restylane or Juvederm, although Dr. Fay will evaluate each patient and determine the most suitable option for them.
Hyaluronic Acid: The internal moisturiser
Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in all your body’s connective tissues. It’s a sponge-like molecule whose main function is to absorb water, which creates volume by plumping up the skin from underneath.
Hyaluronic acid has been described as the body’s internal moisturiser, but its production drops as we age, resulting in a loss of volume and the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and thinning or lined lips.
Hyaluronic acid-based soft tissue fillers are used at Cosmetic Doctor to provide what nature has taken away. They can be used in conjunction with anti-wrinkle injectables to correct worry lines and crow’s feet around the eyes, as well as marionette and smile lines around the mouth. They are also effective in treating nasolabial folds between the nose and lips, and to augment the lips themselves.
Why Belotero Balance?
According to manufacturer Merz Pharmaceuticals, Belotero Balance can seamlessly fill in superficial lines without causing the bluish hue associated with other hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers. This unnatural hue occurs when hyaluronic acid-based fillers are injected too superficially and light reflected through the skin bounces off the clear filler.
When used for lip augmentation or in the lines around the lips, the patient may experience swelling for a few days after the procedure. Some minor discomfort is typical during the procedure, and redness, bruising and swelling are normal afterward.
Hyaluronic acid is completely broken down within the skin over a period of months, making Belotero a temporary fix. Expect the results to last six to 12 months. Like other hyaluronic acid-based fillers, any unwanted results of Belotero Balance can be eliminated with an injection of hyaluronidase, an enzyme that dissolves the product.
