Dermal Fillers at CosmeticDoctor.ie

Advanced dermal filler is used to great effect by Cosmetic Doctor at Slievemore Clinic, who use the most technically advanced dermal fillers available. Dr. Fay attends regular conferences to stay up to date on the ever-developing changes and improvements in materials and techniques.

Advanced Dermal Fillers such as Radiesse work wonderfully well in the hands of an expert practitioner, as they are ideal for subtle sculpting of the face to dramatically improve appearance whilst maintaining a natural look.

Advanced Dermal Filler for Cheeks

Dermal fillers are superb when it comes to the mid face area. Restoration of the facial volume we lose as we age, along with clever contour enhancement, makes a significant difference to our appearance.

Facial aesthetic improvement and rejuvenation is now a global phenomenon, as there’s more to restoring a youthful appearance then just correcting folds or wrinkles.

Dr. Fay is experienced in injecting the midface area of the cheeks to minimise side effects such as swelling and bruising. Detailed anatomical knowledge and an understanding of underlying musculature are vital in using the right injector technique for dermal fillers, which is why it should only be performed by an MD.

What Happens to your Cheeks with Age?

In each cheek, you have a malar fat pad. It’s a triangular shaped pad of thickened subcutaneous fat, and in a youthful face it’s quite high. It’s attached to the overlying skin, and supported by fibrous muscle tissue.

As we age, the weakening of the fibrous muscles and the loss of elasticity in our skin leads to the triangle of cheek fat slipping downwards and forward a bit, until it’s pressing against the nasolabial fold (the fold running from the edge of the nose to the corner of the mouth).

This leads to a drooping effect in the face; pulling down the eyelid as well as deepening the nasolabial folds. All-in-all, that shifting of the cheek’s fat pad can make us look a bit ancient.

How Dermal Filler Restores a Youthful Look

A simple injection of dermal filler in the midface area provides fantastic rejuvenation, plumping everything up and restoring the displaced volume. The thick filler acts like a scaffolding system under the skin, adding the support back to the structure of the cheeks.

This takes the pressure off the nasolabial fold, as well as stopping the downward pull on the lower eyelid, so that overall facial harmony is restored.

Dr. Fay at Cosmetic Doctor is careful not to overfill the mid-face. This kind of over filling leads to the ‘pillow face’ that celebrities often get accused of. The same overfilling can reduce the eyes to slits if too much is placed in the cheeks.

Skilled manipulation and injection of the filler is required to avoid any ledge where the eyelid and cheek meet, and asymmetry must be avoided with precisely controlled injections and an aesthetic eye.
