Amazing Anti-Ageing Treatment

As we age, our skin cells become increasingly dormant and instead of turning over every 30 days or so like they used to when we were younger, they now take much longer to do so. Dead cells sit on the skin surface, making us look matte and dull.

Chronological and environmental ageing- that is, ageing caused by the passing of time and by sun damage and pollution, is far more evident on the skin as it gets older.

Fine lines become deeper; we see wrinkles around the eyes and forehead; tiny lines form around the mouth and lips; we get hyperpigmentation and age spots, and our skin becomes much thinner as it loses its elasticity and firmness.

The ZO Solution to ageing skin with retinol

In order to combat the primary signs of ageing, we need to get rid of the old, damaged, dull cells that are sitting on the skin surface. ZO Ossential® Radical Night Repair Plus will accelerate cellular turnover with a potent concentration of retinol.

Retinol works by reacting to the enzymes in the skin and converting to trans-retinoic acid, which is a usable form of Vitamin A. This allows the skin to generate new cells, and produce more collagen, making the old cells slough off. As new skin cells emerge, skin appears younger, healthier, more even-toned and radiant.

How ZO Ossential Radical Night Repair Plus works

1.0% concentration of retinol — Ossential® Radical Night Repair Plus features the highest concentration of retinol; far more than usual over the counter products.

Retinol causes new collagen to be formed in chronologically-aged skin and skin damaged by UV rays. It is the most effective topical anti-ageing ingredient, because it assists in the process of repairing and rebuilding collagen. Given the high concentration of retinol, Ossential® Radical Night Repair Plus works faster, and more effectively, than any other anti-aging product.

Why is the concentration of Retinol Important?

Products that have a low concentration of retinol, like most over the counter products which only have .1%-.15% of retinol, produce less ‘retinol cascade’. This is the process by which special enzymes convert the retinol to the active metabolite, retinoic acid.

When this conversion rate is low, very little retinoic acid becomes available to the cells. A high concentration of retinol (such as with 1.0% in the ZO Ossential Radical Night Repair Plus) increases the conversion rate of retinol-to-retinoic acid. The higher the concentration of retinol, therefore, the greater the conversion to retinoic acid, and the better the result.

Scientists agree that an even higher concentration would be even more effective, however the product would be extremely and irritating for regular use. 1% is the ideal “cap rate” — the greatest concentration of retinol, with little to no irritation.

Time Released Microspheres to minimise irritation

Some retinol products cause a sudden release and “downpour” of retinol—which can be irritating. That’s why manufacturers usually use a very low concentration of retinol. ZO® Skin Health’s Radical Night Repair Plus uses a unique delivery system–the retinol is encapsulated in a time-released microsphere. So unlike the “downpour”, micro-spheres causes a slow, steady, continuous “drizzle”.

Skinasensyl® is also included in the formulation, which is a peptide that increases skin’s natural tolerance threshold. Users are much less likely to experience any discomfort, which is especially beneficial to over-reactive and sensitive skin.

Not everyone is a candidate for Retinol

Because of the high concentration of active ingredients, people who have the following conditions are not suitable candidates:

  • Sensitive skin that is easily irritated
  • Rosacea
  • Pregnant or lactating
  • Concurrent use of oral acne medication
  • Daily use of a retinoid
