The focus is on all of us to look our best for the office party and those festive get- togethers with family and friends. As focus is on looking good, we look in the mirror and perhaps think about the things we may like to change and if you suffer from unsightly facial veins, it may be that this is the perfect time to take some action.

Thread veins (telangiectasia) are small, superficial red, purple or blue veins which may appear anywhere on the body, but most commonly on the face and legs. These appear when the vein dilates and becomes large enough to be seen through the surface of the skin.

Treatments for half the face: €150 per treatment or €450 for a course of 4 treatments
Treatment for full face: €200 per treatment or €550 for a course of 4 treatments

The IPL treatment targets vascular lesions without damaging the surrounding skin, the lasers’ light is absorbed by the targeted lesion (vein), the resulting damage to the lesion eliminates the vein. Small veins may be treated in 1-2 sessions but for larger veins, a course of 4 treatments is recommended, however, this will be discussed upon consultation so that you are aware of how many treatments are expected, for your particular concern. Most patients describe the IPL treatment as the feeling of a rubber band, snapping on the skin. However, this should not be painful and no anaesthesia is needed. Most patients experience no pain or discomfort after treatment and can resume their daily activities straight away. However, your skin may be slightly tender for a few days and veins may turn darker before they disappear and this can be covered with mineral make up until they fade away. With this in mind it would be best to have the treatment a few days prior to that special event or Christmas party.
