When you look in the mirror first thing in the morning, do you bear more than a passing resemblance to Winston Churchill? You have a tear trough issue.

What is a Tear Trough?

The tear trough is the groove that runs under the eye, between the lower eyelid and the cheeks. Many people have a problem with very prominent tear troughs, which cause under -eye hollows and dark circles.

They are often hereditary, which seems unfair, particularly if you are careful with your diet, lifestyle and skincare. Sometimes tear troughs appear as we age, when the fat directly under the eye begins to protrude, adding years to our appearance.

In some cases fat actually overhangs and overshadows the tear trough, looking deep and dark; lending a slightly hangdog expression.

How Tear Troughs Impacts Your Appearance

Whatever their cause, prominent tear troughs or under eye hollows and dark circles make people look tired, prematurely aged, or a bit sick. No amount of concealer will cover them, and until recently your only option was to have surgery to remove excess ski from beneath the lower lids.

Now you can avail of a non-invasive, much safer treatment at Slievemore Clinic.

Clever Solution for Dark Eye Circles with Dermal Fillers

Restylane, the tried and tested injectable dermal filler, is used to fill and shape the tear trough. This restores volume and evens out the skin. It’s very effective; uses only a little filler under each eye, and eliminates the dark shadows.

The filler is placed very deeply within the area, and gently worked into place. The results last longer than filler injected into other parts of the face; usually between 6 and 9 months or longer.

One syringe of Restylane is enough for both eyes, making this long-lasting treatment very cost-effective.

Technique to Minimise Bruising

Slievemore Clinic uses a cannula to inject the hyaluronic filler to prevent bruising in the delicate under eye area. This also reduces any discomfort to the patient, although you can have a topical anaesthetic if you feel you need it.

A fine needle is used to make a tiny hole to insert the cannula, and then the Restylane is inserted.

This results in less bruising, less swelling and a shorter downtime, so you can resume normal activities quickly. Some bruising is normal, and you should be gentle with your face for a couple of days after treatment to allow the filler to settle correctly.

Dark shadows will be eliminated, and you entire face will look refreshed and rejuvenated once the initial swelling goes away.

You don’t have to spend time trying to camouflage under-eye problems anymore, so call Slievemore Clinic on 01 685 3100 to book your Restylane treatment and say goodbye to your dark circles.
