Recover your youthful appearance without the scalpel
If you are bothered by frown lines, crow’s feet or forehead lines, then anti-wrinkle injections are the solution for you.
Facial lines are caused by the repeated use of the muscles of facial expression.
When you frown, smile or raise your eye brows, lines and wrinkles develop. Lines start to appear in your skin, over time these lines become more permanent and wrinkles may appear. Using anti-wrinkle injections we can temporarily relax the muscles allowing the skin to rest and therefore the lines and wrinkles fade away. Therefore it is a PREVENTATIVE treatment.
Apart from the “habit breaking” aim, Botox has other positive benefits which includes immobilisation of the muscle therefore lines and wrinkles improve over time. Many patients notice that existing frown and forehead lines soften because the forehead is relaxed. Repeated treatment can result in the prevention of lines and wrinkles in the long term.
During your consultation you will be asked to provide your medical history to ensure your suitability for treatment. You cannot have anti-wrinkle injections if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
You will be asked to frown, raise your eyebrows and smile in order to identify the exact pattern of your muscles. This can vary from one individual to the next. This is why it is important to attend an experienced practitioner as it is not a “one size fits all” .
Botox is administered by a fine needle and the treatment is virtually painless.
The treatment takes approximately 15 minutes. Effects last 3-6 months depending on the individual. The effects are not instant with anti-wrinkle injections and it may take between four to fourteen days to see the full effect. After two weeks the results will be noticeable. Very occasionally some individuals may require more than the original dosage. This is because some individuals have stronger or more developed muscles. At CosmeticDoctor we prefer to proceed with caution and add more if this is required at two weeks.
There are possible side effects however these are unusual. Rarely bruising may occur which may be camouflaged with makeup and usually resolves within a few days. There is a very small risk of eyelid ptosis or drooping after the treatment. This is temporary and may be treated with eye drops if troublesome. Other possible side effects which are extremely rare include an allergic reaction, skin rash and headaches.
Many people would like the idea of a smoother forehead, a more relaxed or rested appearance but are afraid of the “frozen forehead”or “over botoxed look”. You can rest assured that botox injections do not always result in a frozen expressionless face. In the hands of an experienced doctor your results should look natural and no one should know that you have had a treatment.
I am often asked, if I do not keep up the treatment will I look worse the answer to this question is no.
