Intracel: So effective for skin rejuvenation the doctor’s using it herself

It really helps if when seeking an effective skin treatment, you find that your doctor has tried the procedures herself- that’s exactly what Dr. Fay has done with all of the procedures she offers at Cosmetic Doctor.

As a busy mother of two (including a small baby) whose sleep deprivation and hectic schedule were starting to take a toll on her skin, she recently tried Intracel after seeing it have such positive results for her clients.

Dr. Fay is currently posting her experiences and photos in the diary section of her website, so to read about her first-hand experience and see how her skin is progressing, have a look.

Intracel is very new technology here in Ireland, and Cosmetic Doctor have been offering it for the past year or so. It has excellent outcomes for patients without the need for invasive work.

What exactly is Intracel and what does it do?

Intracel really provides a combination of three treatments: radio frequency; microneedling and fractional treatment.

Unlike traditional laser treatment which impacts the surface of the skin, Intracel directs the radiofrequency (RF) energy just below it. The tiny needles puncture the skin to deliver the RF energy, but the way they are spaced and the size means healthy skin is preserved, so healing is rapid.

It’s designed to treat sagging skin, jowls, lines and wrinkles, large and open pores, and acne scarring, with little downtime and remarkable results.

Intracel can treat the following:

  • Open pores
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Rejuvenate sun damaged skin by stimulating collagen production
  • Tighten lax and sagging skin especially good for the jawline and neck
  • Stretch marks and scarring
  • Acne scarring
  • Active acne
What does an electric current do?

Fractional Radiofrequency uses an electric current to cause selective heating in the deep dermis using groups of tiny microneedles, leaving columns of tissue between the needles undamaged- this is why skin heals so quickly.

On contact with the skin, the device emits a high-tensioned radio frequency pulse on the target tissue inside the skin.

The energy from the electric current gets delivered below the surface of the skin, so there is absolutely no damage of the surface, or epidermal, layer, and all of the energy is used to target the areas where the needs are inserted.

This energy causes the collagen fibres in your skin to shorten and tighten, and stimulates the fibroblasts to make new collagen. It’s different from laser treatment as the current gets transmitted into thermal, or heat, energy.

The little Intracel needles are insulated all the way down the needle, except for the final 0.3mm at the very tip, which is where the radiofrequency energy comes out. This energy goes from the tip of the needle deep into the dermis, the middle layer of the skin, and causes coagulation and denaturalisation of the surrounding dermis.

This ‘denaturalisation’ process is highly effective for acne as it destroy the causes of acne bacteria, and impacts the sebaceous glands, affecting sebum over-production.

What to Expect

Skin Tightening in Dublin

A topical anaesthetic is applied about 60 minutes prior to treatment to make the procedure more comfortable.

The procedure takes about 30 minutes per area, and can be used anywhere on the face. The duration of treatment and the depth of skin will depend on what it is you’re targeting, and Dr. Fay will discuss it in detail with you at your consultation.

She will apply the device to the skin surface; she has control over the release of the needles which then deliver radiofrequency energy in short bursts, while the head of the device moved systematically across the area to be treated.

Immediately after treatment a calming, anti-inflammatory cream is applied as your skin will be a bit red for a couple of days afterwards, usually between 24 – 36 hours.

Depending on your particular skin issues, Dr. Fay will suggest a course of treatments spread out over time, and once she evaluates your skin type and response she’ll schedule the right amount of treatments for you. You may see results after one treatment but they are certainly noticeable after two or three.
